Donald Watts Davies

- born on June 7th 1924 in Treorchy, Wales
- graduates from Imperial College in London in 1943 with a major in physics and 1947 majors in Math (in the mean time he works for the university in Birmingham dealing with nuclear research)
- starts working for the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in 1947
- in 1966 he becomes head of the information technology department at NPL
- in 1979 he gives up his executive function at NPL in favour of dealing with network security
- retires in 1984, but keeps working as a consultant
- passes away on May 28th 2000 in Australia
