Bob Taylor

- born on February 2nd 1932 in Texas
- attends the Southern Methodist University in 1948
- joins the US-Navy
- after the Korean War he enrols in the University of Texas
- graduates in1957 (major in psychology, minor in math)
- writes his doctoral thesis in psychoacoustics
- accepts different jobs in the aviation industry, before he becomes program director of NASA in 1961
- joins ARPA in 1965
- between 1966 and 1969 he is the third director of IPTO
- moves to Palo Alto in1970 to govern the Computer Systems Laboratory (CSL) at Xerox PARC
- in 1983 he joins the research department of DEC
- in 1999 he is awarded the National Medal of Technology by President Bill Clinton
- today he spends his retirement in Woodside, California
