- in 1993 he finishes his Bachelor in computer science at University of Illinois
- during his course of studies he works for IBM in Austin for one summer
- after his graduation he starts working for Enterprise Integration Technologies in California
- in 1994 Jim Clark and Andreessen found Mosaic Communications Corporation (later Netscape)
- after the buyout of Netscape he founds Loudcloud (later Opsware) in 1999 – he is CEO until today
