Vint Cerf
Father of the internet
- born on June 23rd 1943 in New Haven, Connecticut
- grows up in Los Angeles
- studies math in Stanford and graduates as Bachelor of Science
- after his graduation in 1965 he works for IBM
- enrols at UCLA to study computer science (Master in 1970, Ph.D. in1972)
- In 1972 he becomes professor at Stanford University
- between 1976 and 1982 he works for ARPA
- becomes vice president of MCI Digital Information Services in 1982
- from 1986 to 1992 he works for the Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI)
- founds ISOC and becomes its chairman
- returns to MCI as “Senior Vice President of Internet Architecture” in 1994
- gives up his position as chairman of ISOC in 1999
- Since 2005 Cerf acts as vice president and “Chief Internet-Evangelist“ of Google
